To qualify for assistance under the HVRP standards, you must meet the following criteria regarding your service:
Proof of Service: You must be a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Discharge Status: Eligibility requires a discharge status that is anything other than dishonorable (call for more details and other programs).
Documentation: photo ID and third party validation from someone who can attest on your behalf.
The HVRP grant is dedicated to reintegrating veterans who are currently experiencing housing instability. You may qualify if you fall into one of these categories:
Literally Homeless: You lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence (e.g., staying in a shelter, a vehicle, or a place not meant for human habitation).
At Risk of Homelessness: You are facing imminent loss of your primary nighttime residence (such as an eviction notice within 14 days) and have no subsequent residence identified.
Fleeing Domestic Violence: You are fleeing or attempting to flee dangerous or life-threatening conditions related to violence in your current housing situation.
Institutional Transition: You are a veteran transitioning out of incarceration or a residential treatment facility and lack a permanent home to return to.
The primary objective of the HVRP program is to help you overcome barriers and secure a stable career.
Work Readiness: You must be motivated and ready to enter the workforce or engage in training that leads to employment.
Barrier Removal: You will work directly with an Employment Specialist to address obstacles such as a lack of professional clothing, specialized tools, or transportation needs.
