“VETERANS KNOW BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE THE PRICE OF FREEDOM, FOR THEY’VE SUFFERED THE SCARS OF WAR. WE CAN OFFER THEM NO BETTER TRIBUTE THAN TO PROTECT WHAT THEY HAVE WON FOR US. Their service and sacrifice indeed deserve our utmost gratitude and respect.” -President Ronald ReAgan, 1983

Our leadership

Veteran Owned

Company founder John Garske served as a Pilot for the US Army for 20 years. His interest in vocational rehabilitation for Veterans led him to successfully obtain the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP) grant from the Department of Labor.

Our program opened its first office in Marina, CA, followed by an additional office in Fresno, CA. We have since expanded to 11 offices across 5 states: California, Nebraska, Florida, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

Our company - Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists Inc (VRSI) - works closely with local DVOPs (Disabled Veteran Outreach Program) and CVSOs (County Veteran Service Office) and a variety of other Veterans service organizations to connect our program participants to training and employment opportunities.

How We're Different

The landscape of services and benefits for Veterans is vast and can be complicated. What differentiates our team from others is that we take a 'boots on the ground' approach, and engage in extensive outreach to reach Veterans wherever they may be. Some Veterans have had a less-than-ideal experience with government entities, have faced denials when reaching out for help, or just don't know where to start. Our team is able to do community outreach, provide food and gas cards to help our Veterans get to interviews and meet basic needs, and assist with job placement. Once enrolled in our program, we work with Veterans for a full year, regardless of employment status.

About HVRP

The Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP) is an employment focused competitive grant program of the Department of Labor. Initially authorized in 1987 under Section 738 of Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance, its companion programs are currently authorized under Title 38 U.S.C. Sections 2021, 2021A and 2023. Over the years, HVRP's targeted approach has been very successful. In Program Year 2016 over 22,000 homeless veterans were served in American Job Centers, and HVRP served over 16,000 participants in 2016.
